Have you ever felt lost in your career, unsure of your next step, even though you’re trying your best? That was exactly where I ( Eric Kofi Ahovi ) was in June. I decided to enroll in a career coaching program, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
I still remember my first session in the career coaching course. I was nervous, unsure what to expect. But by the end of that first meeting with the coaches, Afia Owusu-Forfie , Dr. Angela Azumah Alu, PhD and Mrs. Nah-Abiah A. , I knew I was in the right place. Since June 2025, the journey has been eye-opening.
Before joining the career coaching program, I was feeling quite unsettled. I didn’t have a clear understanding of where my course was leading me or what opportunities would actually be available after graduation.
I had a lot of questions about life after school, what to expect, how to prepare, and what steps to take. I knew I needed guidance from someone who had a better view of the real world beyond the classroom.
So, when I came across the coaching program of Coders Who Travel, I didn’t hesitate to reach out. I sent them an email expressing my interest, hoping it would bring me the clarity I was searching for.
The career coaching program covered so many areas that I hadn’t thought deeply about before. One of the first things they helped me with was creating a solid, professional resume that truly reflected my strengths.
They also conducted a personal mock interview with me, which helped me gain confidence and understand how to handle real interviews. Early on, they asked me what I wanted to become and used that to guide my career planning.
What really stood out was how supportive they were, they even reached out to professionals in my field of interest just to gather helpful insights for me. They also helped me build a strong LinkedIn profile and walked me through how to use LinkedIn for networking.
One of the biggest breakthroughs for me during this coaching journey was realizing that I had been underselling myself. I had done some valuable things, but I never knew how to talk about them with confidence.
Through the coaching sessions, I learned how to clearly communicate my strengths and highlight my achievements without feeling like I was exaggerating.
This shift in mindset led me to completely redesign my CV. I added important new details that better reflected my experience and removed things that weren’t serving me. I also gained a much better understanding of how to present myself during interviews, not just what to say, but how to say it with confidence and authenticity.
Beyond the technical skills, the program has genuinely motivated me. I now feel more prepared and driven to go after the career I want, and I’ve started taking real steps toward it, from improving my LinkedIn profile to practicing how to network and engage with professionals in my field.
Looking back, this career coaching program has been more than just a learning experience, it’s been a turning point. I came in uncertain and unclear about what lay ahead after school, but I’m walking away with clarity, confidence, and practical tools to shape my future.
One thing that stuck with me from the sessions was something Afia Owusu-Forfie said: “You don’t need to have it all figured out; you just need to start moving in the right direction.” That mindset shift alone has made a lasting impact.
Along the way, they also shared practical resources, from free resume templates to helpful sites like WordPress for building a personal brand or online portfolio. These tools have made it easier for me to take action, rather than just absorb information.
If you’re a student or young professional unsure about what’s next, I genuinely recommend trying out a coaching program with The Coders Who Travel Foundation It might just be the push you need. Feel free to drop a comment or reach out, I’d love to hear about your own journey or questions you’ve been sitting with. We’re all figuring it out together. THANK YOU!
